LATEST NEWS FROM THE HAMMER VAULTS…




On the 28th March, Silva Screen will conjure back to life The Hammer Legacy series.

Available digitally for the first time, the best of the wonderfully crafted Hammer scores is collected here into three blood curdling compilations - The Vampire Collection, The Science-Fiction Collection and The Frankenstein Collection.

Concentrating on The Vampire, Science-Fiction and Frankenstein themes, the compilations feature the music of the legendary James Bernard, Harry Robinson and David Whitaker.

The Science Fiction Collection includes music by Tristram Cary, an early pioneer of electronic music who also wrote for Doctor Who in the early days.

Biutiful



On the 18th April, Silva Screen is set to release Gustavo Santaolalla’s poignant soundtrack to the film Biutiful. It is available at Biutiful (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Gustavo Santoalalla

Nominated for an Oscar, two Academy Awards and a BAFTA, Biutiful stars Javier Bardem as Uxbal, a man struggling to reconcile the past and present as he battles a terminal disease.

Argentinian composer Gustavo Santaolalla became only the third composer in Academy Award history to win an Oscar two years running for Brokeback Mountain (2006) followed by Babel (2007)

Debbie Wiseman Competition

Silva Screen is scheduled to release The Promise, Debbie Wiseman’s soundtrack to the new Channel 4 four-part drama series. The soundtrack will be available from www.silvascreenmusic.com from Monday the 21st.

Praised by The Metro as "a carefully and beautifully executed film", The Promise follows 18 year old Erin, on her emotional journey to Israel, retracing her grandfather's WWII life as a British peacekeeper in then Palestine.

Peter Kosminsky, the director and writer of The Promise comments:
"Debbie weaves her beautifully played piano with strings, oboe and harp, as well as with Kaval, Duduk, Oud, ethnic flute and Arabic violin to create a soundscape that eloquently interprets the epic scale of a drama about one of the most intractable and tragic conflicts of the modern age"

Francis Lai: The Essential Film Music Collection


On the 7th February Silva Screen are set to release Francis Lai: The Essential Film Music Collection. Conducted by the composer himself, the album represents a retrospective snap-shot of Lai’s varied and hugely successful film music career.

Francis Lai has received critical acclaim over five decades and has worked with the legendary Edith Piaf. His iconic scores immediately conjure up the world of love, loss, passion and affairs of the heart with music that has struck a chord across the world. It's the perfect pick for Valentine's Day.

The Promise


On the 21st February Silva Screen is scheduled to release The Promise, Debbie Wiseman’s soundtrack to the new Channel 4 four-part drama series.

The series follows 18 year old Erin, who sets out on an emotional journey to Israel, retracing her grandfather’s post WWII British peace keeping footsteps in what was then Palestine.

Composer Debbie Wiseman's previous credits include Flood, Wilde, Land Girls and Lesbian Vampire Killers, and on this CD the Royal Philharmonic do full justice to her atmospheric score.
