We are finally able to confirm the tracklisting for our double CD release Doctor Who Series 4:The Specials. The opening track, Vale is a cue from the larger work Vale Decem (loosely translated as Farewell Ten), which the music builds towards as the departure of the Tenth Doctor becomes imminent. The full version of Vale Decem is at the end of Disc 2.

Thank you for giving us a two disc soundtrack for the Specials. Since Doctor Who returned fans, while enjoying the soundtracks, have commented on certain tracks being missing from certain discs. It appears this physically can't be the case for the Specials. I hope to see this kind of tracklisting for future Doctor Who soundtracks. Keep up the good work! :)

ReplyDeleteMajor personal interest pique: what's track 23 on disc 2, "Song for Ten (Reprise)"? Didn't hear a hint of Song for Ten in The End of Time. Will it be (like) the instrumental version in School Reunion? Or the version actually used in The Christmas Invasion?

ReplyDeleteConsidering this is the track that introduced david tennant as the doctor at the end of christmas invastion (his first episode) its seems only fair that for his last story its also there. i have a feeling it will be an updated version of the one from the series 1 & 2 Soundtrack.
Im intrested in why there are 2 tracks intitled vale?
Ah, caught it this time. It's very subtle (almost hidden!). Song for Ten Reprise plays when Donna wakes up and the Doctor steps out of the TARDIS, just before he goes to get his reward. Never noticed that before... Its being there makes the episode even better for me. Bring on the last Tenth Doctor soundtrack!
